You can cast spells to greater effect.

Benefit: All variable, numeric effects of an empowered spell are increased by 25%. An empowered spell deals 25% more damage as normal, cures 25% more hit points, affects 25% more targets, and so forth, as appropriate. For example, an empowered fireball deals 1-1/4 times its normal damage (roll damage and multiply the result by 1.25).

Saving throws and opposed rolls are not affected, nor are spells without random variables. An empowered spell uses up a spell slot one level higher than the spell’s actual level.
